Abstract

Newborn babies are babies aged 0-28 days. The mortality rate for newborns in Indonesia is still higher than in other developing countries. Hypothermia is the main cause of morbidity and death of newborns in developing countries. Nursing care for clients at risk of decreasing body temperature at RSUD dr. Chasbullah Abdulmadjid was carried out on April 10 2023 – April 14 2023. This research aims to obtain an overview of the implementation of nursing care for newborns with problems at risk of decreasing body temperature. In order to write this scientific work, we used qualitative, descriptive methods with intervention, and the nursing process which includes assessment and evaluation. The techniques used are interviews, physical examination, observation and client status. From the nursing care that has been carried out, 3 diagnoses were found that were the same in both clients, namely a high risk of a decrease in body temperature: hypothermia related to adaptation to the environment outside the uterus, a risk of lack of fluid volume related to limited fluid intake, and a high risk of infection related to disruption of tissue continuity. . For these three diagnoses, 1 nursing action was carried out, namely training the mother how to warm the baby using the kangaroo method to prevent the baby from hypothermia. There was an evaluation of the 3 diagnoses in the clients of Mrs. A's baby and Mrs. D's baby with 3 diagnoses that had not occurred and were not expected to occur. Future researchers are expected to further develop how to prevent a decrease in body temperature in newborn babies.
